The Meinl Artisan Edition Cantina Cajon is a top of the line instrument that takes very careful consideration for its look, sound, and overall player comfort. The 12mm thick Baltic Birch resonating body delivers a fully, punchy tone with excellent clarity and projection and the extra thick wooden sound port creates bass compression for a wider dynamic range. Lower lows and sharper highs. There are 16 adjustable strings, each hand wound, that are position in two equal sets along the inside of the Walnut frontplate. This string position allows for excellent snare response at any dynamic level. The frontplate is ergonomically shaped for added player comfort. The top corners are rounded to protect player's palms while the thumb notches help keep player's from hitting the top edge of the cajon with the knuckles of their thumbs. In order to perfectly match every player's preferences, two tuning screws allow for manual adjustment of the internal snares to find just the right tension and sound.
